Prospect is a new initiative born from the Rhineland — one of Europe's most significant regions for contemporary art, and home to a collector culture, institutional landscape, and academic tradition that few places can rival. We are driven by a desire to honour that legacy while reimagining what a commercial exhibition can look and feel like today.
Set within the former premises of the State College of Photography in Cologne — a space of rare architectural character that has remained inaccessible for years — twenty forward-thinking international galleries will present curated positions on purpose-designed tables in a unique format. This concept provides an interesting challenge for participating galleries as they are limited in space and defined by the same exhibition design.
Through its carefully considered selection of artists and galleries, Prospect brings a distinctly international perspective to the Rhineland's rich tradition of collecting and artistic exchange.
Prospect will be premiering in November 2026 — contemporary art reframed for a new moment, and opened to the world.
As a native of the Rhineland, my family instilled in me a deep love for art from an early age. Alongside my professional work as a doctor, art has always enriched my life in a uniquely meaningful way. This makes it especially important to me to advocate for stronger international connections and greater visibility for the art scene in the Rhineland.
The Rhineland is a global art world phenomenon and deserves even more of its attention — and that is exactly why we founded PROSPECT. We offer artists and galleries a fresh way to reach the market, and we give institutions and collectors a curated selection they would rarely encounter in one place. This is a new, international format — and creating these connections is what drives me, alongside my work of bringing contemporary positions into institutional contexts.
After 14 years as a gallerist in the Rhineland, I feel strongly about carrying forward the avant-garde tradition of this region and the vital role galleries play as mediators between collectors, institutions and artists. Just as Cologne once invented the art fair, there is a need today to rethink and reimagine that format. I am therefore delighted to be part of the PROSPECT Cologne group — an exciting network of diverse individuals, all deeply rooted in the Rhineland art scene and internationally connected.
After professional chapters in Milan and Berlin, I am delighted to be enriching the art and cultural scene of my home city with PROSPECT — a new, internationally oriented exhibition format — bringing with me many years of experience in communications for fashion and design brands, as well as my passion for compelling event concepts. I draw inspiration from the openness and curiosity of the people of Cologne and from the calibre of the many galleries rooted here, which continue to set the tone on the international stage. Both qualities make us ideal hosts for a new format.
The Rhineland took on a key role in "the art world" relatively early on and was truly pioneering in many areas — for instance, by establishing the world's first art fair, supported by a number of far-sighted and outstanding gallerists who, above all, built and strengthened the Rhineland–USA axis. As a young person, I found it tremendously enriching to be surrounded by these galleries, as well as by the wealth of institutions on offer. I would like to build on this tradition, revive it and develop it further, in order to bring the region back into the focus of an avant-garde discourse on art.
Growing up in Cologne, I was immersed in the Rhineland's art world from an early age. After gaining experience at international galleries, auction houses, and numerous art fairs, I decided to pursue my own ideas. I co-founded an art and cultural platform with the aim of making art and culture more accessible. I am delighted to be part of PROSPECT, a project that supports galleries while bringing together artists, collectors, and institutions alike. To contribute to this dialogue within my home region, the Rhineland — a place with such a distinctive artistic reputation and international resonance — holds particular personal significance for me.
Twenty international positions under one roof — arranged like the exhibition tables themselves. Click a tile to see works, artists and website for each gallery.
Further galleries (around 20 in total) will follow once the list is finalised.
